Welcome to Ahkam. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Ahkam mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Ahkam, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

2. Description of Service

Ahkam is an Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) research application that provides:

• Access to classical Islamic legal texts and scholarly works
• AI-powered semantic search across jurisprudence content
• Note-taking and bookmarking features
• Reading and study tools

3. User Accounts

To access certain features, you may need to create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You shall not:

• Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
• Transmit malware, viruses, or harmful code
• Scrape, crawl, or harvest content without permission
• Reverse engineer or decompile the application
• Use the Service to harass, abuse, or harm others
• Misrepresent your identity or affiliation
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations

5. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding user-generated content) are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. This includes:

• The Ahkam application design and interface
• Proprietary algorithms and search technology
• Logos, trademarks, and branding elements
• Original translations and annotations

Classical Islamic texts in the public domain remain in the public domain. Our presentation, formatting, and enhancement of such texts are protected.

6. User Content

You retain ownership of content you create within the Service (notes, bookmarks, etc.). By creating content, you grant us a non-exclusive license to store, display, and backup such content as necessary to provide the Service.

You are responsible for ensuring your content does not:

• Infringe on third-party intellectual property rights
• Contain illegal, harmful, or offensive material
• Violate any person's privacy rights

7. Subscriptions and Payments

Ahkam offers premium features through subscription plans. By subscribing:

• You agree to pay all applicable fees
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
• Refunds are handled according to Apple App Store or Google Play Store policies
• We may modify pricing with reasonable notice

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING:

• MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
• ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR RELIABILITY OF CONTENT
• UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION
• SECURITY OF DATA TRANSMISSION

We do not warrant that the content is free from errors. Users should verify information from authoritative sources.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AHKAM AND ITS AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

• Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Loss of profits, data, or business opportunities
• Damages arising from reliance on content in the Service
• Any amount exceeding the fees paid by you in the past 12 months

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Ahkam, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Service
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights
• Your user-generated content

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, for:

• Violation of these Terms
• Conduct that we believe is harmful to other users or the Service
• Suspected fraudulent or illegal activity

Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in courts of competent jurisdiction.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. The unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.

14. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Ahkam regarding the Service. Any prior agreements or understandings are superseded by these Terms.
